looking for a good model of simple quilt log cabin?
I have a new sewing machine and want to start a new blanket. I do for my son. he has achieved only little easier blankets on me. so I want to be something good for them. that most likely be a winter so plan to be of thickness. I found a pattern, but I think it is too light somewhere. and I am having Troble find pictures of quilts. thanks for the help here is what I found. I know I can change the color just looks a bit girly. if u know what i mean. http://www.womenfolk.com/baby_quilts/lclargetop.htm just went to eBay and my head is starting to hurt. do u think i should do just a pillow first to get the hang of it. before my head explodes.
The Log Cabin is the easiest way to block to do, but do not let that stop you. There are some things you can do to make it easier. Rebuilding the chain is as sewing assembly lines. Cut all the squares in the center. Then cut long strips the width of the fabric (selvage to selvage) of the fabric second. Put the strip in your sewing machine to the right side. Put a square in the right hand pulls down, aligning the right edge. Sew 1 / 4 "seam. Upon reaching the end of the central square, leaving a small space and put the center of the Place the following on the strip. Which through one, and then place the next and the next. When finished, you have a band with a bunch of squares sewn she. Cut the band to match the squares in the center. Press open, then put them face down on the fringe of the third piece (often the same as the second), ensure that the central square is in the same position for each. Thing to the strip with only a small gap between them, as it did for the first group. Trim, press, and repeat with the next strip. Continue until you have built your block. Then a "perfect" 1 / 4 "seam is difficult to achieve, especially for a beginner. Instead of worrying about it, cut the strips 1 / 4 "larger than the model requires, then adjust the size the square after each round of strips. Or, forget about making a perfect block and make a block deliberately twisted. That is very popular now and is called "liberated" or "inconsistent" cabins.
