Plantation Road by Bonnie Blue Quilts.  1800's Reproductions Quilt. Approximately 94" x 107" finished size.  This quilt was inspired by Henry McAlpin's 400-acre Hermitage Plantation north of Savannah, Ga. which housed over 200 slaves.  Hermitage used the task system of labor.  Unlike the gang system where slaves worked from sun up until sun down, the task system relied on dividing the work into specific tasks.  Once the task was completed the work was done for the day.
Slaves at Hermitage made bricks by hand and by 1850, had produced over 60 million bricks used in buildings in and around Savannah.  Their own quarters were made of brick as well.

This quilt will require 14 different reproduction prints in a variety of brown, teal, red, pink and tan colors.
