Sallie's Quilt by Bonnie Blue Quilts is approx. 91" x 106". The quilt was inspired by a brindle bull terrier, Sallie. She was adopted as a puppy and grew up with the 11th Pennsylvania Infantry regiment and became their loyal and beloved mascot. She frequently poistioned herself at the end of the battle line barking at oncoming southern troops. After the first day's battle at Gettysburg, Sallie went missing. Days later after the Confederates retreated she was discovered lying with the dead from that first day of battle. Although weak from lack of food and water, her troops nursed her back to health so she could return to the field with them. Sadly only two months before the end of the war she was killed at Hatcher's Run. Her regiment buried her on the field where she fell.
