Quilting for Beginners: How Beautiful Quilt enjoy your family heirlooms Generations

Did you know that most quilters 6 million beginner decided to learn to quilt over the past three years?

This brings the total number of quilts to about 27 million – that's just in the United States. And most of the quilts, like me, are presented with limited drawing and painting skills.

Quilting is a great way create a work of art with fabric. It is well known that the "painting" will not be perfect, and that the colors and patterns are limited to what is available in a Quilt Shop or hand-dyed fabric.

Here are my top tips to get you started in Quilts decisions for you, your children and grandchildren:

• Combine the blocks of fabric to create their quilts. By changing the shapes of the pieces within a block, such as squares and triangles replace light switch fabric for dark fabric, you can create a whole new quilt design. And still keep your quilt construction thereof.
• Simple is the name the game for many quilts. As a quilter principle, focus on learning and practice of basic quilt making techniques you need to develop their craft.
• Use one or two shapes for all patches of the quilt. This makes it easy to sew a quilt together. Squares and triangles offer many advantages in terms of simplicity.
• Remember, interesting variations on the Quilt Blocks are achieved only by where you place the fabrics in your quilt, and how each patch is divided into the pattern quilt.

8 Quilting easy to start

Quilt Pattern 1: A nine-patch quilt blocks Simple can be used as an example of how a different block can look just by changing the placement of colors within the nine parts of an apple. With only two colors of fabric in alternating squares creates a checkerboard design.

Quilt Pattern 2: With the same nine patches of two colors of fabric, using only square patches in each block, you can create a quilt pattern that looks like a big X.

Quilt Patterns 3 and 4: Want more of a challenge? Take some of the patches in square blocks and is divided in half from corner to corner (commonly called half-square triangles in quilting world), and create an Ohio Star quilt or block mill.

Quilt Patterns 5,6,7, and 8: Change the location of your fabrics again and the block becomes a May Basket Quilt Block, a Maple Leaf Quilt Block, Bow Tie block, or even a series of diamonds, called oblique Diamonds.

Increase the number of colors in your quilt, and design changes again. And, by using only two basic shapes (squares and triangles) can create all the design changes.

Quilts are wonderful works of art that have survived the test of time and will continue as long as there is no fabric quilting imagination.
