I need a sewing machine for quilting and reg. sewing. Any suggestions? Maybe a vintage singer? 301?

I have been looking at used Singer 301’s but I don’t know if a new machine may be better. I want something that is going to last and be used for all my sewing needs. Any help would be appreciated.

For standard stitching and quilting by machine, without a frame, any sewing machine will do. Try Walmart. If you purchase a quilting frame, such as a Little Gracie, you should look into a more expensive machine with a deeper throat.( distance between the needle and the machine inside.) Long arms are useful, but even more costly. I usr a HUsqvarna Viking, it has a few more inches to the throat than basic machines such as Singer, or Brother. Hope this helps!
