Knitting pattern – The increase "in every stitch?
I am a beginning knitter and I'm struggling with a pattern of tissue. I point 18 and 18 purl. Now he says for row 3 to "on each Inc c / all – 36 pts." Then the next instruction is "Row 5: [K1, inc in st] next 18 times – 54 pts. "I understand the abbreviations as I have a dictionary – the thing that is giving me problems is where and how to improve. My books show several different methods, most from K1, but have no word on how to increase the stitch CADA, if that is true what you're asking. Help?!
You have 18 stitches in his (left) needle (assuming you're weaving clever) You say you know how to make a raise. No increase in the first stitch pretty on your needle. You now have two stitches on right needle and 17 on your left needle. Click an increase in the next item on your left needle. Now you have four stitches on the right needle and 16 in the left needle. Continue working on the line in this same way (each point increase) and by the end of the row will have 36 stitches on the right needle. Turn to work and purl across (row 4) So the K1, inc in the next point on the other side of the line 5, exit 3 points for every two on the needle, so it will be half more points until we started. 36 + 18 = 54, I tend to use the item "on the front and back of the stitch" method of increase (the first method learned, and not too hard for me because I united continental style) unless otherwise noted using another method by pattern, but leaves a small bump you can see. But the method of collection-the-loop will not work in your employer because you have to do in each stitch. This video does a good demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILcTB5hc0XM
